Bhajans are the simplest way to attain the threefold Ratnatraya path, to reach out to the thirthankara, says the renowned poet Ratnakaravarni. Bhajans have always been the link between god and the common man. Bhajans forge an emotional bond between the performer and the audience, and use stunningly simple language and everyday scenarios to convey highly complex spiritual ideas. Satsangs and communal bhajans have been a part of our culture for a long time. The entire family gathering together to sing bhajans after the evening meal was a common practice in every jain household. With time, this practice has almost vanished, as families grow smaller and demands on our time has increased. The Bharatiya jain Milan Zone 8, in 2016, launched Jinabhajana competitions in an attempt to revive this dying art form, and in the process , bringing the community together. The competitions have been successful in capturing the interest of the youth, while reviving old and lost songs and shlokas
