The New York Sharks are one of the most successful women's tackle football teams in the country. They are a member of the Women's Football Association (WFA) which consists of over 50 teams throughout the United States.
The Sharks are entering the 2011 season for a record 13th year in women's professional football. Last season they went 7-1 and made it into the playoffs. Unfortunately they lost to the Boston Militia in the North Atlantic Division title game. But this year the Sharks are gearing up for a successfull 2011 campaign with the pick-up of some key veterans from other teams and a new head coach, Pittsburgh Steeler Super Bowl champion Darnell Stapleton.
The Sharks defeated the Philadelphia Liberty Belles 34-20 last weekend. Their next game will be at the Boston Militia on saturday, April 16th. The Sharks are currently in first place. Game time is 6pm (EDT).
