The United States–Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF) was established in 1956 by the governments of the United States and Israel to administer the Fulbright program in Israel. The Foundation is funded by the US and Israeli governments and aims to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Israel by means of student and faculty exchanges at the highest possible level of academic excellence.
Every year, the Fulbright Foundation identifies the most prominent and talented individuals in Israel and sends them to the major centers of knowledge in the United States. At the same time, the Foundation hosts American researchers and research students in institutions of higher education in Israel. The connections between researchers and their hosts are the basis for long-term cooperation.
