I'm Pete Dehlsen. I create soundscapes with electronic instruments, performed mostly live and improvised. I record directly to the Tascam Model 12 recorder and the videos are created on computer.
The rhythms and time signatures are quite complex and combined with the sounds they create the textures, colors, patterns and feelings of the hustle of existence and can take the mind on journeys to esoteric and other worldly places. There is a lot of freedom, fun, exhilaration, astonishment, irony and sarcasm expressed in the process and in listening.
I'm inspired by musicians like Miles Davis, Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, Art Ensemble, and I've been playing lots of music including the avant-garde since the 70's.
Warning: The videos may cause issues for people affected by flashing lights. The music can be very intense and sometimes be a bit scary and perplexing. But it's only music and usually no words.
