God cannot heal what we refuse to grieve. If we pretend that our pain doesn't really hurt then how can we invite God in to redeem it? It is time for us to lament. In the wake of the turmoil of our world, God put it on Nicole’s heart to begin singing songs of lament. Lament is a uniquely Christian practice of crying out to God about injustice, pain, and uncertainty and then actively choosing to place our trust in Him, even though the situation seems to go unchanged. Now more than ever, our nation, our world, needs to lament. We must mourn the losses. We must grieve the death. Music is a powerful way in which we can begin to be fully transparent and honest with God. Through simple chords and spontaneous melody, Nicole leads people in their grief as they turn to God to make sense of the senseless.
