Kayley Whalen is a scholar of anthropology, queer theory, and religion pursuing their PhD at UC Davis. Their primary research focuses on articulating neurodivergence and queerness through a spiritual/magical lens as an alternative to the languages of science, medicine, and politics. They have been conducting ethnographic research with neurodivergent, trans, and queer people since 2019 in Southeast Asia, Northern Europe, Latin America, and the 30+ countries they have visited in that time. They have also engaged in extensive research into folklore, religion, literature, and music to uncover the history of faerie changelings as neuroqueer spiritual beings.
In 2019, while living in Thailand, they started the blog TransWorldView to provide a forum to share the stories of transgender community leaders, which led to the creation of this YouTube channel. As of 2025, they are not focusing on posting newer YouTube content, as their focus is on academic publication and their PhD dissertation.
