The year was 1998 and backyard wrestling was at it's pinnacle. Enter Acme Wrestling Federation, which set the new standard for cutting edge backyard wrestling. While other backyard promotions were known merely for extreme violence, AWF became #1 in backyard entertainment for it's emotionally involving story lines and unique personas such as Anger, Kodiak, Jabrona, Beernut, Sweet Jerry, The Quitter, and more. Two years went by and a new and more vulgar and violent promotion, World Anarchy Wrestling, also launched out of Acme, PA. The emergence of this new promotion started the great backyard war of the early 2000's. Much like Raw and Nitro in the late 90's, AWF and WAW would go head to head, competing for the admiration of the backyard wrestling fans of Acme, Pennsylvania.
