I’m Vijay Gupta. I’m a violinist, writer, and speaker, and I’m reintroducing myself here with a bit more honesty than before.
Some people found this channel through performances. Others through Street Symphony, the nonprofit I founded to bring music into shelters, clinics, and jails. Others still through a TED talk I gave years ago about music as sanity. All of those threads are real, but none of them tell the whole story.
I’m currently writing a memoir called Restrung, forthcoming from Hachette. It’s about music and burnout, inheritance and choice, faith and fracture, and what happens when a life built on excellence quietly breaks. It’s also about the people who remade my understanding of dignity, belonging, and practice far from the concert hall.
This channel is a place to think out loud about practice, meaning, and work that serves something larger than the self. There will be performances, teaching, reading, and conversations that connect art to the world it lives in.
