TR7 (Taji Ra’oof Nahl) — Philadelphia-based interdisciplinary artist, composer-philosopher, and 2024 Guggenheim Fellow — creates a living broadcast of sculpture, sound, film, and oration rooted in Qur’anic philosophy and African American thought. Channel TR7 is a media ecology and nerve center where practice, pedagogy, and collective imagination converge.
Here you’ll encounter Field Trips to Staged Productions, Video Almanacs, and cross-pollinated performances that activate civic and cultural spaces. These works extend lineages of artists and thinkers such as Terry Adkins, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, George E. Lewis, while opening new forms that address surveillance, power, futurity, and the triumph of human existence.
More than documentation, Channel TR7 is an express vessel — a counter-broadcast, archive, and invitation to participate in the ongoing construction of knowledge, stewardship, and transformation. It carries forward what TR7 calls The Art of Beneficial Knowledge.
