An effective treatment for ALS has yet to be found. However, it has become increasingly clear that ALS has a genetic basis. This is the goal of project MinE: to focus on new genetic insights into the cause of ALS. ALS & project MinE ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease which can affect anyone, anywhere. It is one of the most seriously debilitating neuromuscular illnesses and is fatal in almost all cases. Unfortunately, because so little is known about the precise cause of ALS, an effective treatment for this disease has yet to be found. However, it has become increasingly clear that ALS does have a genetic basis. This is the goal of project MinE: to focus on new genetic insights into the cause of ALS that will ultimately lead to new treatments for the disease.
