Closet Gallery is an alternative online project space located in a closet in Lisa Theriault and Phil Mercier’s apartment in Montreal. Each month, an emerging artist is invited to install their work in the closet. The exhibition is then shared for a week at www.closetgallery.ca through a webcam live stream. Artists and creators are all to familiar with the challenges and pressures of presenting finished works. But where do we keep all the raw materials, the works-in-progress, the failed works, the works to be sold, the works to (hopefully) one day be exhibited? Closet Gallery is a storage solution, an exhibition space, and an exercise in making the most out of limited resources. Viewing hours are determined in relation to each exhibition.
