Slow and heavy is the creed of Rotterdam based band Katie Kruel. This wild quartet performs stage rituals in the tradition of Black Sabbath and Melvins: heavy and ruthless guitar riffs and a slow and heavy pounding rhythm section.
‘The Rise and Fall of Cannibal Planet’ is their latest album. It is leaning more towards stonerdoom and sludge in pace and intensity than former releases, but still has Katie Kruel’s characteristic rough production – a reminder of their roots in noise and deathrock - that adds to the oppressive atmosphere of the album.
The album has been well received, not only by longtime fans and critics, but also by new friends of the stonerdoom community: recently ‘Lover’ was even issued as part of a compilation album by the notorious ‘Doomed & Stoned’.
