Classic Country storytelling, influenced by the Bakersfield sound with a modern twist.
Brix Alan Whaley was born on Merle Haggard’s 40th birthday, and was raised on the back roads between Bakersfield and Modesto, California. His father, a veteran, worked as a ranch hand at area vineyards. Brix’ parents announced their divorce on his 7th birthday, and his dad left for Idaho. For gifts, he left a broken guitar, some used country albums, and a bible with missing pages. All three would foretell his future. Brix played his father’s Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings albums so many times he wore out the grooves and had to throw them away.
His songs are classic storytelling country about real people, places, relationships and feelings. They include everything from nostalgic laments to tongue-in-cheek romps to good time country anthems, and share one common theme: Redemption.
