Reminiscences of a Failed Rock Star

I am a failed rock star who, alongside others, tried to make it within the Richmond, VA (RVA) music scene of the late 1990s-early 2000s. Several popular bands emerged from or had close ties with RVA, including Gwar, Strike Anywhere, Lamb of God, Darkest Hour, & Drive-By Truckers, but they were exceptions; most bands faded away. Now, 20-25 years later, I wished to honor fellow local musicians, including bandmates, who devoted years to playing but never made it. This channel is a monument to effort, not outcome. I will share content from some of my own bands (Kicked in Ribs, VX, Optic, & Sirens to Silence), which enjoyed some near-breakthroughs but, in the end, had no long-term success. Our story was like many others’. I dedicate this channel to RVA musicians & bands of that era who struggled & sacrificed to realize their dreams, often ‘paying to play’ or entertaining an empty floor just to play. Had YouTube been around then, things might’ve worked out differently for some. Enjoy!
