Misc, a Montréal-based instrumental ‘mutant jazz’ trio, anchors its cinematic melodies with solid, driving grooves. While their aesthetic is rooted in the classic piano–bass–drums format, their use of effects, synthesizers, unconventional percussion and sampling creates a sonic mosaic that pushes the boundaries of contemporary jazz.
Founded in 2010 and the recipient of numerous awards since, Misc has carried its compositions across several continents and delights in transporting its audiences as well—often inviting listeners to move freely around the group during performances. The trio features Jérôme Beaulieu, William Côté and Jérémi Roy, all highly regarded musicians on Montréal’s music scene.
