My name is Jonathan. I've loved to do art since I was little. I drew with pencil and paper, started ceramics classes at 10, and at 14, started sewing by hand from material in my mom's sewing cabinet, and using handsaws and bowsaws to cut shapes from kindling logs. I got a scroll saw at 15, which was when I started to cut out shapes, sand and paint them, and at 28, joined a woodcarvers' club, where I started carving with knives and gouges, then learned to use a band saw to cut out my carving blanks. At 37, I started craft shows, and learned how to make items to sell. As the pandemic struck, I finally set up a better shop. This is what I love to do. Some of my work comes with a laminated tag saying, "I Choose Charity Over Bitterness." I made up that quote, and as to how I came up with it, there's so much in my personal life that I could choose to be bitter about. In some cases, I still may be, but try instead to be as sweet as I can be, to help me with the issues of which I speak.
