Savänt is a hard rock band formed in 1998 from Auckland, New Zealand. Savänt's first demo 'Fight, Shine, Calm, Ready' came out in 1999, followed by the 'Easy Way' EP in 2000. Savänt was described by Rip It Up magazine in its formative years as ‘Auckland’s hardest gigging band’. Savänt opened the Big Day Out music festival at Auckland’s Mt Smart stadium in 2001 and supported Californian rock band Incubus at the St James theatre. In 2002, Savänt supported Creed and Incubus at Western Springs stadium in front of a 20,000 strong crowd. Savänt released its debut album ‘Nothing Sacred’ in August 2003 on Rajon Music, with distribution through Sony Music. The same year Savänt supported Audioslave for their one and only ever NZ show at the Auckland Town Hall. Savänt singles include 'Solitary’, ‘Underground’ and ‘Distance’. ‘Solitary’ was nominated as ‘Best Indie Video’ at the Juice TV awards.
