From Vancouver, Canada to Brighton, UK. Epic psychedelic post metal cut with moments of vast foreboding atmosphere define Matador. In 2019 James Kirk (guitar, vocals) laid the foundations for the project, writing and producing "They Were Here Before Us" almost entirely on his own, outsourcing only drum tracking. In 2020 James joined forces with Scott Stronach (drums) and Mark Ainsworth (bass) and the trio began working on what would become Matador’s sophomore release, “The Surge”. In 2025 Matador signed to Church Road Records and continue their sonic evolution with the forthcoming album "Above, Below and So". On this release Matador dive deeper into alternate time signatures and cinematic arrangements to draw the listener further into their universe. Delicate haunting melodies, brutal doom laden riffs, and powerful hypnotic rhythms give rise to a vivid feast for the ears!
