Good Ground formed in 2012 when husband and wife duo John and Carla Wills, with long time friend and musical collaborator Zach Thomas, began writing and recording original songs that combined Carla's love of singer/songwriter folk music with John and Zach's ten years of writing and performing together in various guitar-driven rock bands. The combination created a unique sound that features vocal tradeoffs between John and Carla, layered acoustic and electric guitar stylings, and tempos ranging from driving and upbeat to slow and melancholy. Good Ground has roots in the Chicago suburbs.
