We're tracking the history of country music on records from pre-1920 rural dialogue, jigs and reels, banjo rags, southern sentimental songs, Hawaiian steel guitar, and roots blues THROUGH old time, tragedy songs, southern gospel and spirituals, murder ballads, hillbilly string bands, clawhammer, guitar-mandolin duets, bluegrass, Western swing, country boogie, honky tonk, and classic country hits. No fancy videos or digital recordings here, and the videos of somewhat period-appropriate phonographs will give you the sense of playing the records yourself, as they were heard by the original buyers - scratches and all.
