Storytelling is a tradition that goes back centuries in the African culture. Educators use storytelling a way to teach, and historian use it to pass down facts to generations. It was a learning tool. Stories were told to the young children for life lessons including the moral of the stories by their elders. Through storytelling most of the African folktales traveled with the slave trade to the Caribbean and the Americas. African Americans and Caribbean shares all those stories today from their ancestors. Economic migration is one factor that may cause the decline in the art of storytelling.
