His car died at night, a beam of light filled the sky. He was electrocuted and died for several days. Aliens surrounded his body, using automated, hospital-like machines to perform surgery. One called “Stardust,” comforted him, said they were correcting a part of his brain that channels creative thought. Thomas regained consciousness after a park ranger performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. In what he describes as a deep afterlife state, he dreamt of being kissed in a fairytale-like moment. He awoke without his previous ego—the “Blackout” period—but soon began receiving songwriting instructions from Stardust and the alien culture. These are the results.
