Balkstar is an artist, producer and performer influenced by Bass, Dub and Techno . He is an independent artist promoting his his signature sound; phat beats, percussion grooves, future bass and mad synths. Raised in Aotearoa, educated in New York and percolated in Amsterdam, Mike is now back home and has built Roken Studio for artists to grow and develop their DJing, Production, Mixing and Mastering skills. Balkstar's debut album Passive Aggressive was signed to US label/publisher Tomasian Entertainment and released in September 2012 through the company's T Dance Digital music label imprint. "Passive Aggressive" the full length release, as well as "Passive Aggressive" and "What You Hold Today" the singles, were official entries for nomination consideration in the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.
