Hybrid vehicles from Toyota have a fuel-efficient and relatively clean drive. The rides shown here with my Prius 2 (built in 2008, NEDC 4.3 l / 100 km), two Prius 4 models (NEDC 3.3 l / 100 km) and a Prius 4 plug-in (2017, NEDC 1.0 l / 100 km) offer a better understanding of electric motor and gasoline engine interacting with each other in typical driving situations and show the achievable EV only ratios and gasoline consumption. Consumption below the NEDC norm is easily possible in the city and on rural roads with the Prius 2 but quite hard to achieve with the Prius 4. The Prius 4 is better soundproofed, better spring-loaded and about 0.7 l / 100 km more fuel efficient than the Prius 2. The car is only surpassed by the Prius 4 plug-in, while the Prius 2 is lagging behind. Nevertheless, the Prius 2 is a reliable recommendable car, which inspires me again and again with every ride.
