ZMP is an interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to illuminating the history and lived experiences of Zainichi Koreans through music, research, film, and storytelling. The project was recently approved by NYFA, marking a significant early milestone. Through commissioning new works, documenting personal narratives, and creating educational media, ZMP aims to reclaim and share a history that has long been marginalized or erased.
Founder, Yukimi Song is a Brooklyn-based pianist, educator, creative producer, and Bespoken Fellow whose work spans performance, documentary storytelling, and community-centered arts. She is the creator of The Piano Pod, a multi-award-winning podcast and YouTube show with a global classical music audience, and the owner of Yukimi Song Studio LLC, an award-winning piano studio. As a third-generation Zainichi Korean, she brings her lived experience and decades of artistic practice to build ZMP into a platform that connects music, memory, and cultural identity.
