Chef David J. Alvarez is an accomplished culinary professional with over 40 years of experience in the industry.
Alvarez’s formal training includes working under American Culinary Federation Chefs at the Marriott Hotel in San Francisco, as well as two years of side-by-side training in Italian cuisine with Chef Michael Wagner, a close friend and Culinary Institute of America (CIA) chef. His expertise spans French and Italian cuisines, and he is also an award-winning pastry chef.
Notably, he won Season 1, Episode 3 of Chef Hunter on the Food Network, which led to his role as Executive Chef at Les Halles Downtown in New York’s Financial District, a restaurant famously associated with Anthony Bourdain. Alvarez has also worked as Guy Fieri’s chef at Johnny Garlic’s in Brentwood, California.
Beyond his restaurant work, Alvarez is a private chef and caterer. He has also competed on Epic Meal Time against Top Chef winner Ilan Hall.
