MAYA is an interdisciplinary storyteller. She writes indie-folk music with influences of Arabic and classical music. And she works with dance, spoken word, and visual disciplines such as videography, animation, and the overhead projector.
"In my work, I tell raw stories with soft power. The obstacles of existence lead to beautiful insights, like finding a home in yourself, human attachments, and the interrelatedness of nature and your inner world. By offering solace and consciousness, I hope to support my audience in their own process of healing and expressing.
Nature plays an important role in my work. There I find a place to charge and feel gratitude for the magical world we live in. I find beauty in rawness, laughter through my tears, and everyday things. My work is connected to my inner child and the world and feels honest, intimate, and introspective."
