Pepi Mara grew up off-grid on Magnetic Island (Australia), left home young & qualified as a welder. While traveling, Pepi ended up at a redhead convention in Ireland where he met his wife & lived for 10 years.
After dabbling with drums, Pepi switched to rhythm guitar once he began songwriting. He recorded debut EP Leap 2 years after learning his first chords (2016). A 70s’-inspired album In Cahoots came a year later recorded with Christian Best. Covid & 2 young kids meant it went unreleased. Pepi played the role of Dad, creative tradesman & the odd gig, while continuing his songwriting.
2025 saw the Maras come to Australia. Pepi was quickly reminded of the Ozzie obsession with Land-cru-zars and penned novelty song How Many Ks? (recorded with Mark Myers). You’d still be more likely to find Pepi carving a wooden spoon than playing a gig. He likes to keep his wife & daughters in his arms & the music industry at arm’s length. But who knows what’s next? Certainly not Pepi…or his wife!
