How it feels (and sounds) to be an independent gemcutter in my tiny art studio! Shaping & polishing gemstones is a craft called faceting— aka gemcutting. My technique is called "precision" cutting, which strives for symmetry, proportion, brilliance, and precise facet meets. Overall, it's the color, shine, and the gem's best potential that takes priority over its final size. I'm here to bring attention to this seldom seen artform by taking you through its rewarding (and satisfying) process! My Background: I've been cutting gems for 7 years and have had the privilege to study under certified gemologist mentors. One from IGS whose talents topped USFG competitions, the other certified internationally by Gem-A, both I am equally grateful for. One of my pieces has also been featured by the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History under their Mineral and Gem Collection, virtual exhibition 2020. Thank you for visiting my channel!
