Vintage Astronaut is a weekly live improvised music project exploring jazz, electronic sound, deep groove, and experimental forms. Each session is created in real time — no rehearsals, no setlists — shaped by deep listening, trust, and the energy of the moment.
Based in Winston-Salem, NC, Vintage Astronaut releases full live sessions, improvised performances, bass and synthesizer explorations, and plant-powered music experiments using biofeedback technology. The music moves freely between modern jazz, psychedelic fusion, ambient textures, and rhythm-driven improvisation.
At the core of the project is the Vintage Astronaut Improviser’s Guild, a community built around improvisation as both a musical practice and a way of moving through life: staying flexible, listening deeply, and responding rather than resisting. Every performance becomes part of a growing archive documenting this ongoing experiment.
