Rarebeasts is an experimental sound and audiovisual project by Brian McNamara, an artist and instrument builder based in Bungendore, NSW, Australia.
McNamara’s practice sits at the intersection of sound, electronics and sculpture, with a strong emphasis on duration, process and material failure. Many works operate without human intervention, while others invite participation through unconventional physical gestures or collaborative interaction, treating audience engagement as a compositional element.
Through these methods, Rarebeasts investigates themes including the relationship between technology and the environment, memory and loss within digital systems, and the increasingly blurred boundary between human agency and autonomous machines. The channel functions as an archive of full‑length works, ongoing series and process‑driven experiments.
