Factory started life as a 4-piece rock band from Cape Town South Africa during 1986, with Andre Meyer on guitars, Ian Coche on vocals, Derek Cockerel (bass) and Daniel Gallagher (drums). Operating mostly on the cover-band circuit, guitarist Andre Meyer had started writing original songs around 1987 and quickly realized that the songs required keyboards to be fully realized. Thus keyboardist George Ashley became the fifth member in 1988. Around 13 songs were written, of which 7 were recorded in a rush over a few evenings at Cape Town's Spaced Out Sound Studios. Due to budget constraints the recorded demo tracks were quickly mastered and released as a mini album called Industrial Rock in 1989. (the name Industrial Rock being completely out of context with the music that featured on the mini album) This page has been created as a result of many original fans of the band asking where they could find, and listen to these original tracks.
