Farm to Live: Rice Farms

Rice Farms is a 5th generation family farming operation that started in 1914 when James Edward Rice moved from North Eastern Kansas to Wanatah, Indiana. Wanatah is located in NW Indiana approximately 60 miles east of Chicago, IL. Currently, Scott (4th Gen) operates the farm with his son, James (5th Gen). We grow a variety of crops on a little over 3,000 acres on primarily irrigated land. We grow specialty crops; tomatoes and seed corn, along with commercial corn and soybeans. We desire to grow the highest quality crops while remaining environmentally sound to remain sustainable for generations to come. We also hope to show bits of our snow and ice removal company, Snow Be Gone, in the winter months. We hope this channel can connect and educate consumers with farm life with sharing tips and things we've learned along the way to other farmers.
