The Gleniffer Singers is a Paisley-based ladies choir. With musical director Dr Roger McLean and accompanist David Stewart, we currently have around 35 active members, of which one is a founder member. We take part in guest concerts in and around the West of Scotland and have performed in several competitions and national and international festivals throughout the years. We also hold a yearly Christmas and an annual charitable concert in May, with the proceeds going to a different charity.
The choir was founded in 1967 by a number of talented Renfrewshire singers who decided to form a choir called the "New Paisley Singers". The attempt almost fell flat on its face though when only four men turned up for the launch but the day was saved when the ladies decided to go it alone and form their own ensemble. The choir's name was later changed to the Gleniffer Singers in 1974.
