The South Asian Symphony Foundation is a not-for-profit trust based in Bengaluru, India. It was founded by former Foreign Secretary of India, Ambassador Nirupama Menon Rao.
The aim of the Foundation is to promote peace and cultural integration in the South Asian region, through the medium of music. The South Asian Symphony Orchestra (SASO) comprises musicians of South Asian roots from all over the world. These musicians convene to break bread together, rehearse together, perform together, and, ultimately, form everlasting bonds of friendship. In doing so, they become ambassadors of cultural exchange and peace.
The Foundation is also committed to the development of orchestral repertoire that includes indigenous and classical South Asian music.
