EXIT 17 is a band from Newton, MA focused on preserving and interpreting great tunes from last 50 years with material ranging from Marvin Gaye and Steely Dan to Dr. John and Morphine. Merging at the intersection of Funk, Soul, Jazz, Rock and Blues, the seasoned pros, teachers and students of old school who make up EXIT 17 come from diverse musical backgrounds and influences. Various band members have studied at Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory and the Boston Conservatory of Music. Members have performed with the likes of Ben E. King (Stand By Me), The Coasters, Chuck Berry, The Drifters, Tavares, Chaka Khan and Rufus, The Monks Of Funk and Stingy Brimm. Originally formed in 2006, Exit 17 plays at local events and venues like Ryles, Smokin' Joe's, Union Street and The Social.
