This channel is dedicated to compiling the classical achievements of pioneering folk-musician Ustad Soobram Prabhudas hailing from Dow Village, California, Central Trinidad. Soobram was a frequent competitor in the A Class and was amongst the most celebrated of Trinidad's classical golden age. He went on to release his LP in 1979 by invitation from Mala Records in Surinam where he sang the earliest recorded LP version of Ke Ke Ne Laga. Originally intended as a Kempta, upon request for more dance music he reformatted it into a breakaway/chutney style which was later picked up by other Artistes and then further spread through the West Indies and South America. Many Drummers and Dhantalists of the Golden Era such as Soogrim Ram and Jaglal are also featured in his recordings for strong references to authentic Indo-Trinidadian classical style.
