Much respect for rap/hip hop which has been an inspiration to my choice in songs as well as my rapping. As a white person, it’s important for me to acknowledge that my musical tastes and art are largely inspired by rap and hip hop. Rap stems from Africa long ago and hip hop originated in the impoverished South Bronx, New York City in the 1970’s on a whole lot of nothing but imagination. Rap/hip hop has always been a good friend, teacher, and mentor to me since an early age and got me through a number of dark and lowly times.
Special shout out to: TLC, Salt-N-Pepa, Missy Elliott, and more recently, Snow tha Product, Xiuhtezcatl and Dej Loaf for their musical healing and inspiration.
