Post independence, the Muslim community lagged far behind mainly in the education and economic sectors in West Bengal. For this reason, they were unable to make any significant contribution to the state or to the nation. To earn livelihood, they resorted to blue collar jobs. Therefore, they were given least importance not only in the building up of the society but also in the making of the state and the nation as well. In most of the cases, the meritocracy was unable to flourish, which was dreadful for the country and its people, in general. By this way, year after year, misuse of merit became a normal feature. So, to show the right direction to the society, we thought it was necessary to build up a residential educational institution like Ramakrishna Mission. Al-Ameen Mission came into existence with this idealism in view.
