'Anhad' is a Sanskrit word which means Sound of Universe.
Anhad started in 2018 as a reaction to an incident when Rajiv was turned away from the auditions of a Reality Show without even being heard. Then Rajiv decided that he will make a band which will make it's sound heard in the entire Universe.
Rajiv has been greatly influenced by the mystic poet Kabir, "father of qawwali', musician and poet Amir Khusrau and Bulleh Shah, a Sufi poet in 17th century Punjab. He also considers Tulsidas, Surdas and Ghalib's writings as "out of the world" and when one would sing such "out of the world" poetry/songs it would become Sound of the Universe, hence "Anhad".
The band sings folk songs and also sings popular Bollywood numbers.
The philosphy that Rajiv brings with his 'Anhad' band is that the song/poetry is not to be sung just for singing or entertainment but also for understanding the lyrics and feel the song, it should touch your soul.
