BlakDenim is a vanguard 8-piece hip-hop act that combines clever lyricism and smooth harmonies with a banging rhythm section and funkified horns. They infuse hip-hop, funk, rock and soul with lyrical content that ranges from the serious to the absurd, their tone from sweet to heavy, all connected by head-nodding melodies. The line-up includes drums, bass guitar, piano, turntables, trumpet, tuba, trombone, cello, flute, female vocalist and an emcee. In their relatively short time together the band has created serious buzz, whether from their live appearances including at the Ottawa RBC BluesFest, ELE Fest and Hope Beachfest, to the critical acclaim of their debut EP "Vanguard(en)".
