"Aloha (open circle... i.e. connection to) Nature" was initially created in 2016 as a part of an experiential course designed by Associate Professor Patricia Amaral Buskirk and Dr. Misa Maruyama Jones. This was an innovative multidisciplinary class from the College of Social Sciences (CSS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa covering the IUCN World Conservation Congress from Sept. 1 - 10, 2016. Our CSS course titled, "Conservation Impacts through Multimedia Storytelling" brought together students from diverse disciplines, including Communication, Journalism, English, Psychology and Natural Resources & Environmental Management -- all united by a shared love for nature and interest in conservation. This channel has grown as a forum for our COM Program, Media Arts focus and showcases productions that share those same intentions, i.e. to provide creative media content, based in Indigenous and Western science epistemologies in support of our local and global communities.
