The Contra Costa Wind Symphony is made up of dedicated artists with a common love of performing challenging symphonic band music. While based in Walnut Creek CA, its volunteer musicians hail from throughout Contra Costa County and beyond. It was conducted by Dr. Duane A. Carroll for 30 years and he is now retired. The newly appointed music director and conductor is Brad Hogarth.
Featured are modern classical compositions written specifically for wind symphonies. Also performed is music ranging from swing and jazz through traditional band favorites. Performances frequently include guest artists and collaborations with other arts groups.
