Parakeets, the sibling duo Julius and Merle Eckardt, have made a name for themselves in the Ruhr region and beyond with their unique blend of indie pop, folk, jazz, and bossa influences. Their intricate arrangements, live loops, and infectious rhythms create a captivating live experience, earning them spots at Reading Fringe Festival and as tour support for Cryssis (Vom Ritchie, Die Toten Hosen), Who’s Amy, and Oskar Haag.
In 2023, they embarked on a nationwide duo acoustic tour, embracing a more flexible and intimate setup after parting ways with their live band. The success led to the "Hosomaki Tour" (2024) with 26 shows across Germany, promoting their acclaimed single "Hosomaki Lunch Break."
Their talent was recognized early on with a popNRW Award nomination (2021) for Best Newcomer Band. With fresh music, relentless energy, and a drive to push boundaries, Parakeets are a name to watch.
