One of hip-hop’s most influential independent labels, Rap-A-Lot Records pioneered Southern rap, built the blueprint for artist-first independence, and continues to shape the culture from Houston to the world.
Founded by James Prince in 1986, Rap-A-Lot Records has spent four decades setting the tone through landmark releases, uncompromising vision, and a legacy rooted in ownership, authenticity, and artist development. As the label celebrates this milestone anniversary, Scarface’s The Diary and Geto Boys’ We Can’t Be Stopped return to vinyl as the first chapter in a larger 2026 campaign that will include additional releases, special projects, media initiatives, and cultural moments throughout the year.
