On 1 July 1947, the Navy Band was officially established. In 1995, its name was changed to Royal Band of the Belgian Navy.
Since 2010, Bandmaster Bjorn Verschoore has guided the orchestra through various performances such as concerts, military ceremonies, tattoos and CD, radio and TV recordings.
The Royal Band of the Belgian Navy became one of the leading military bands in the world.
The current formation of 36 professional musicians distinguishes itself by the numerous crossovers to pop, jazz and big band repertoire. The list of guest artists that have appeared with the Navy Band is impressive: Johnny Logan, Tutu Puoane, Paquito D'Rivera, Ozark Henry, Paul Michiels, Bert Joris and many more.

The orchestra's impressive track record includes many performances at renowned tattoos and festivals worldwide: in Halifax, Quebec, Norfolk, Avenches, Lucerne, Inverness, Birmingham, Nanchang, etc.
