The videos on this channel are some of my favorite pieces from the violin repertoire for students. It is often difficult to find good performances of this music--sometimes only an audio recording is available with no video, or the video recording is of a very young student playing. Sometimes there is no performance available at all. I originally recorded these videos so that my own students could hear the sweep of a piece, accompaniment and all, before learning it. My experience is that this saves hours of practice and frustration, since the entire solo becomes embedded in the ear from the very start.
One of my main criteria in choosing a piece for a student is that it is fun to play and listen to, and I don't hesitate to adjust my tempo, omit repeats or take cuts if I feel this makes the music more enjoyable for the violinist and audience.
