The Jugend-Gitarrenorchester Baden-Württemberg (JGO) has united young guitarists from all over Germany since 1991, many of whom are prize winners in music competitions such as "Jugend musiziert." Several times a year, they meet with conductors Helmut Oesterreich and Christian Wernicke for concerts, rehearsal phases, and tours. The repertoire includes works from all musical eras, jazz, pop, and contemporary compositions, often written specifically for the orchestra by composers like Terry Riley and Haosi Howard Chen. Highlights include foreign tours to Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, and Australia, as well as numerous concert trips to Eastern and Southern Europe and Asia. Key collaborations have taken place with orchestras like the Zurich Youth Guitar Ensemble and soloists such as Leo Brouwer and David Tanenbaum. In 2022, the orchestra won first prize at the Trossingen orchestra competition. In 2024, they established a partnership with the "Studenten Gitaar Ensemble Nederland."
