About the series: "Helsinki soi" is a video series, that presents musicians, bands and sound artists performing in various outside locations around the city of Helsinki. The ambience of the location is essential and the artist can decide to make it an active part of their performance by commenting or reacting. The ambience works also as a mood-setting canvas for the performance. The footage is mostly shot with one handheld camera, and recorded with one whole take. Artists also talk about their music and the process of making it, before or after the performance. The series is filmed and recorded by music producer and composer Teemu Vänskä and supported by the Art Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and Finnish Music Foundation (MES).
