It was Smt. Indira Sivasailam's firm conviction that South Indian classical musicians par excellence should be encouraged and recognized, leading to her daughter Ms. Mallika Srinivasan establishing the Indira Sivasailam Endowment Fund in the year 2010. One of the key initiatives of the fund has been the sponsorship of the Indira Sivasailam Endowment Concert in association with The Music Academy, Madras and the institution of the Indira Sivasailam Endowment Medal. The recipient of this award is chosen by an expert committee constituted by the Music Academy which selects recipients on the basis of excellence in performance, audience appeal, adherence to classical tradition while innovating within its framework, depth of knowledge and demonstrated efforts to disseminate knowledge and the ability to bring about a greater and deeper public appreciation of Carnatic Music. www.isfoundation.in www.facebook.com/theISfoundation
